Prayer Group

Prayer Group meets at 10am every Tuesday in meeting room 1 downstairs.

A few of us have got together to form a prayer group within the Church. We meet at 10.00 am on  Tuesdays for an hour. We have a word of welcome to each other and Thank God for all his guidance and support throughout that week. We then read a small passage from the Bible and this gives us a focus for our prayers.  God loves a good talk with his children, young or old, and is always delighted to hear our concerns and our thanksgiving. We are focussing our prayers on our church, a its congregation and the wider community. We would like more people to join us at 10 on a Tuesday but in your own busy-ness you can be included if you fill in a card at the back of the Church and we can include your concerns in our prayers each Tuesday. Jesus asks us to pray, in Matthew 6, and He taught us the prayer we say in Church.    He goes to a quiet place to pray very often wishing to be alone but then people follow Him and he graciously accepts their presence. Lord, we pray for that quiet place we have in the Parish Church where we ask for the presence of God and His wisdom to encourage and to sustain us as we pray for our Church and the congregation.

May our footsteps be taken justly

                        Our words said kindly

                        our lives lived fully

and God always by our side.   Amen

30th June 2026
Loving and Merciful God,

As the summer months roll on and the holiday season approaches we give thanks.

Thanks for the beauty around us in this part of Scotland, thanks for the visitors to the west of Scotland at this time and thanks for the opportunity to worship you and to spread the word of the gospel in this place.

We remember the times we have let you down, the unkind word or the ignorance of situations that we could have handled better – not always remembering that you are our guiding light in all we do to helping the poor and needy in our communities and the love we spread when we embrace the gospel teachings of Jesus.

Lord, help us to live by example in the world which you have created and have given us the opportunity to make it into the world you have envisioned.

As the summer sun gives life to the soil may the fruit it bears be shared by those who most need it. May hunger and the lack of clean water be addressed by world leaders and governments to make it fairer to live for all and not for the advantaged few.

In this month Schools will be closing for summer holidays, may our young people be enriched by their break from studies and may they be kept safe in the freedom afforded them in their leisure time. Lord we pray for children throughout the world, those living in war torn countries experiencing hunger and those living with abundance of food and privilege, may all know the love of a caring God . May churches of the world see the needs of young people in whatever world they live in.

We read in our newspapers and on T.V. the horrors of war, may world leaders come to a peace initiative to stop the suffering of people who did not want conflict but want to live in peace with one another.

Lord, as discords around the world flare up and escalate, give wisdom to the peacemakers and governments to see a way towards peace.

We pray for all who minister and conduct worship to many, may they be given wisdom and strength to guide us in our faith and bible studies – set before us the difficult decisions, the good news, helping others and knowing the fellowship that exists within our communities.  Lord our concerns are many but we know that prayer is answered, Lord give us the patience and the wisdom to listen to that small voice of calm in a troubled world.

In Jesus precious name we pray.    Amen
